About Proton Therapy
Proton therapy is a form of radiation therapy without many of the side effects people often experience. That’s because proton therapy can be more precisely targeted to the tumor, allowing patients to receive higher, more effective doses, and greatly reducing damage to healthy tissue near the tumor. Studies have shown it is effective in treating brain, head and neck, pediatric, colorectal and prostate tumors, among others.
It is often a good alternative for children, who are more sensitive than adults to the effects of radiation.
